³ The ^(A)refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,
But ^(B)Yahweh tests hearts.
⁴ An ^(C)evildoer gives heed to lips of wickedness;
^[a]A liar gives ear to a destructive tongue.
⁵ He who mocks the ^(D)poor reproaches his Maker;
He who is ^(E)glad at disaster will not go unpunished.
